LP Gas Heaters & Containers

1994 Uniform Fire Code Regulations concerning L.P. Gas Containers and Heaters:

  • L.P. Gas Containers in connection with heaters, heating devices, open flame devices and or confined heated areas shall not be placed or stored within the interior of any building or structure.
  • L.P. Gas Container 100 pounds or less shall not be placed within 10 feet of the exterior (outside wall line) of a building or structure.
    1. #100-2000    15 feet  (100-500 Gallons)
    2. #2000-4800    25 feet  (500-1200 Gallons)
    3. #Over 4800    50 feet   (Over 1200 Gallons)
  • L.P. Gas Containers shall be firmly secured in the position of their approved and intended use and secured against tipping and movement, also placed on a firm base.  Pressure relief valves shall be pointed away from the buildings or structures.
  • All L.P. gas containers shall be equipped with approved pressure regulators.
  • Storage of Combustible and or Flammable Liquids.
    1. Combustible and or Flammable Liquids shall not be stored within the interior of any building or structure.
