A Pierce Contender® pumper with seating for six personnel was delivered to Steamboat Springs, CO, by Jay Hosburgh of Front Range Fire Apparatus. This pumper's primary use will be for structure protection in the wildland interface. It also affords the department a backup Type 1 engine which will help in the department's next ISO rating. The apparatus was purchased for $241,931 in part with $140,000 from an Energy Impact Grant.

This unit features a 350 HP Cummins engine, an Allison 5-speed automatic transmission, a 1250 GPM Watrous single stage pump, 1000-gallon water tank and Hercules CAFS system. View a Pierce video of the benefits of a CAFS system.

Additional features include: roll-up doors, front discharge, external ladder storage via hydraulic arm, and automatic tire chains.
